An Intelligent Tool for Climbers

The SmartBoard allows the user to create, track, and execute the desired workout by using a custom menu. The menu is displayed in the center of the hang board on a 2.4 inch LCD display, which is navigated by a rotary encoder. Two S-Style 100kg Load Cells sense the weight and force exerted by a user in order to start a timed workout or measure benchmarks that can be stored on an SD card. During a workout, the SmartBoard’s illuminated LED strip informs the user of when to rest or hang, as indicated by a change in color, acting as a supplement the timer displayed on the LCD.

Ideation

I started my creative process by analyzing existing products to inform my rough concept sketches. From here, I created an example workout to inform the necessary functionality of my project.
